I'm finally taking the time to post pictures from my freelance job that I've been working on for about a year and a half now. The majority of it was completed back in August, but I still have a few last minute details to take care of as the project wraps up.
The project was to design and theme the inside of a childrens dentist office in Austin, TX. The concept that was given to me was a mix between a cartoon town, and a quaint main street. The office is divided into two different areas, 1) the kid general dentistry side, & 2) the slightly older teen orthodontics side. The kids side is what became "Tooth Town", and the teen side, when finished, will have a more beach theme.
I jumped at the opportunity to use not only my illustration skills, but also my passion for environmental theme design. There were a lot of challenges along the way...mainly because the physical office was 740 miles away, and I was designing/constructing/painting everything in my basement workshop. There were weeks of self doubt, and high points of accomplishments, but in the end I was so happy to see what had been in my head for so long, finally realized in a tangible way. I was also glad to have regained my freedom :) I had a lot of help from my friends, and brother Cory, without whom I would have never finished on time. Let me just say, free pizza, and ice cream are great motivators!
